Project Description

CRAYFISHERS is a high-energy observational documentary series following the seafaring fortunes of one of New Zealand’s biggest Maori fishing dynasties, the Fishers. All based out of Bluff – and all chasing the high value crayfish – the Fishers have been fishing these waters for centuries.

But now a new generation must take over. It is a critical time for the regeneration of the whanau and their crayfishing business.

The main boat is skippered by rookie Jayce Fisher. He’s just taken over the multi-million-dollar vessel from his Dad, Vaughn Fisher, who is anxiously watching over his shoulder. Jayce is under the pump.

We follow this family and all of their challenges and escapades as they battle to feed the hungry Chinese market. Will they fill their quota, strike the right price and hit pay dirt? We watch to find out.
